The Office of Student Leadership, Involvement, and Community Engagement (SLiCE) offers several Student Organization Officer Orientation sessions each semester that provide an introduction to the policies and procedures associated with:

• Leading a student organization

• Event planning

• Managing student organization financial accounts

• Access to student organization funding

Officer orientation is required for recognition as a student organization

Officer Orientation is a required component of the annual registration process for all student organizations wishing to be recognized by the University. The SLiCE office maintains the official registration database for all registered student organizations at CSU.

2009 - 2010 officer orientation dates

All officer orientation programs take place in the Lory Student Center. The 2009-2010 officer orientation dates and specific locations are as follows:

Fall Semester

Thursday, August 27 at 4 p.m. – LSC East Ballroom

Tuesday, September 8 at 4 p.m. - LSC East Ballroom

Wednesday, September 16 at 4 p.m. – LSC Cherokee Park Ballroom

Wednesday, September 30 at noon – LSC 228

Monday, October 12, 2009 at 4 p.m. – LSC 228

Thursday, October 29, 2009 at noon – LSC 214-216

Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at 4 p.m. - LSC 228

Spring Semester

Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at 4 p.m.– LSC 214-216

Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at noon – LSC 228

Monday, March 4, 2010 at noon – LSC 214-216

Registration process

Registration is an annual process and includes three easy steps:

1) complete a registration packet

2) attend an officer orientation (two officers minimum required to attend; other members and advisors are welcome.)

3) maintain an updated and approved constitution in the SLiCE office

Benefits of being registered

Benefits of being a registered student organization include:

• Free marketing

• Free use of Resource Room

• Free use of the student organization work space

• Free use of various university meeting rooms and facilities (certain areas may have rental fees)

• Opportunity to request student fee funds from ASCSU, grant money from diversity, travel & programming grants (some stipulations apply)

• Use of mailboxes, display cases & canopies

• Opportunity to apply for storage space

• Free advertising in the Collegian through Club Clips sponsored by ASCSU

• Reduced advertisement rates in the Collegian

• Use of the Flea Market

• Assistance with fundraising activities
